Robert Hatton Knox


 

Robert Hatton Knox, born May 23, 1874 and died April 29, 1964, came to Texas by train from Tennessee.  His father died when he was sixteen years of age.  He was accompanied by three brothers, Newton M., Jasper and Joseph and his mother, Rhoda Ardena Pea Knox.  An older son and daughter, Willie R. and Alice came later.

1) Willie R. married Mary Rigney. 

2) Alice married George Rigney.

3) Robert Hatton married Delia Ann Jones, born August 16, 1867 and died November 11, 1941, the daughter of Jim, a veteran of the Texas Revolution,  and ______ Griffith Jones.  They met while working at a cotton gin.  She was a weaver.  Robert died April 29, 1964 and Delia died November 11, 1941.  They are buried at Bourland Cemetery.  Their children were:   May, who died in infancy; J. Virgil, born August 8, 1895 and was married to Ruth Ragsdale and Ada Mae Brock; Thomas Mark, born October 13, 1897 and was married to Ella Lee Means.  They had four children:  June, Eloise, Mark, Jr., and Ann.

4) Edna Rose was born December 17, 1899 and was married to Thomas Lewis Jarvies.

5) McCarty Summers (Jack) was born October 16, 1903 and was married to Viva Hughes.  Their children were Virginia and Lois.

6) Florence Ardena was born April 13, 1907 and was married to George McCarty.  Their children were Martha Rose, Wenella, Patricia Ann, and twins Rita and Robert.
